What Fifteen Years in the Classroom Taught Her

Sally spent fifteen years teaching middle schoolers, and she's raising her own kids in District 78 now too. She's seen firsthand how decisions made in Indianapolis end up on your kitchen table: a utility rate hike that eats into the grocery budget, a school funding formula that means bigger class sizes and fewer resources. She doesn't need a briefing to understand what that costs a family. She's lived it, and she's taught through it.

She's Navigated the System Herself

Sally is the mother of two grown children who taught her, early on, what it takes to get a kid what they need. Her son, now 22, has significant special needs and lives in a group home, a placement she researched, fought for, and helped build, one appointment and one form at a time. Her daughter grew up managing dyslexia; this fall, she heads to Purdue. Sally's doctorate in literacy research grew directly out of watching her own daughter learn differently. It's not just a credential; it's where her advocacy started. She knows exactly what it costs, in time, paperwork, and persistence, to get a kid what they're owed. That's the fight she wants to keep having in Indianapolis.

Sally believes District 78 deserves a representative who's actually here, not just during election season. On utilities, that means holding companies like CenterPoint accountable for rate hikes that don't add up, and supporting local energy options that keep more control (and more savings) with Hoosier communities.
